Loved and hated: Where the Humboldt Forum stands today, once stood the Palace of the Republic. From 1976, it was the representative state and cultural centre of the GDR, with the seat of the People’s Chamber, an art gallery, numerous events and gastronomic offerings. Closed in 1990 and gradually demolished from 2006 onward, the vanished site is still present in many memories and strong opinions today.

The augmented reality app offers a view into selected rooms of the palace. Follow the floor markings, scan QR codes and discover the palace virtually.
